Letting go and using two hands to keep a grip on the gift and embracing the good

We postpone the finality of heartbreak by clinging to hope.

Though this might be acceptable during early or

transitional stages of grief, ultimately it is no way to live.

We need both hands free to embrace life and accept love, and

that's impossible if one hand has a death grip on the past.

~KRISTIN ARMSTRONG,

O Magazine,

Feb. 2007

It's hard letting go.  It could be a death of a loved on, a death of a relationship or just letting go of a job because of the economy.  It is painful no doubt about and above all you have to go through the pain, you need to transition to a higher plane to be able to move forward.

Not saying you should not remember the good and the great of the things you passed.  You need to remember the good and the great of that person, or job.

But when we grip to tight on the past, ultimately we have less control of our present and the future.  We can not get a firm grip of the present with one hand still holding onto the past.

Remember the past, you bet.

Let the past effect your future relationships, your future trust factor's.

No that is not the way we should live.

Today is a gift.  The 86,400 seconds we get everyday we can't stop.

They move on.  They are not in our control.  They are a resource that is a gift and we need to search for the joy and happiness in each moment.

We need to look up and forward and take time to enjoy 'the moment'.

It is hard, to focus on the now when the past is to fresh in our heart.  Our spirit aches but after 48 trips around the sun I have learned through those years that we are in control, of our thoughts, our emotions and our reactions.

Live your life with love in it.  With laughter and joy.  Share your smile first with you in that mirror and use your affirmations that I shared with you yesterday or you created for yourself and march on into your day.

The seconds in your life tick on.  Tick, tick, tick ---- three more seconds fall away but as long as you understand the importance of each second and the importance of living your life for the good of the cause.

The cause you ask --- to be happy of course.  To serve another.  To love and be loved and to make a difference to another.

Smile on my friend let those burdens be carried away by God.

Let those tears wash away the pain and give gratitude not for what you lost, but for what you got to share in.

Those things, those bright colored memories, let them shine over the dark.

Let them help to brighten your day, lighten your load and let your light shine on for another.  For one day your light will dim and it will go out but the memories you left behind will keep someone else's day a bit brighter for them.

Shine on!

Smiles for you this day : )

Love and laughter sent your way ............

So what of this word Virtue?

Just as treasures are uncovered from the earth, so

virtue appears from good deeds, and wisdom appears from

a pure and peaceful mind. To walk safely through the maze of

human life, one needs the light of wisdom and the guidance of virtue.

~Buddha

Maybe we should define this word virtue. From Dictionary.com:

vir·tue   [vur-choo] noun

1. moral excellence; goodness; righteousness.

2. conformity of one's life and conduct to moral and ethical principles; uprightness;

3. chastity; virginity: to lose one's virtue.

4. a particular moral excellence. Compare cardinal virtues, natural virtue, theological virtue.

5. a good or admirable quality or property: the virtue of knowing one's weaknesses.

I for this like to look at the first, second and last definition to work with and strive for.

To have in our hearts a virtue of moral goodness, righteousness sounds so high and mighty but if you tone it down a bit moral goodness sounds so direct and front of the line it goes.

We also must understand our values and what we place in order, our love for the soul and spirit.  Values should help us stand upright in this world that seems to thrive on putting others down.

Why do you think so many worry about the 1% that have so much?

They feel smothered, overwhelmed and feel less in control.

We need a leader with values and the desire to stand on those values and not be lead by special interest groups or lobby's.

That leader is not just the President but all of Congress and our Statewide leadership.

Knowing thine weaknesses.  Working on them, sharpening the saw but using that skill to improve upon said weakness.

Sharing that smile.

Caring for another.

Even when your light may not be at its brightest.

The uncommon individual the person that strives to care and share their love and kindness.

The value of virtue.  Has a great value indeed.

So today..... establish that list of values, and apply them to making a difference in this world.

Sharing laughter

Sharing a kind word

Sharing love

Sharing comfort

Sharing a Smile

Make a difference today and as always Smiles sent your way : o )

About Getting Well and Moving On

With the past, I have nothing to do;

nor with the future.  I live now.

~Ralph Waldo Emerson

I must say I love Emerson, he simplifies so well.  On Make ME Smile Online's Mission Statement his view on Success as he defines it fits well with my spirit.  It keeps me grounded sort of speak and allows me to focus on what truly matters.

What truly matters to me is feeling the awesome responsibility of being a parent. Of loving your children and no matter the fault that they have or the problem they may have created you still love them as you would water or oxygen.  That unconditional love that a parent has for their child is greater even than the love of a brother or sister.  They are you and you want nothing than the best.

What truly matters to me is helping another breathe a bit easier because you made a difference, you shared a kind word, some advice, a smile, a gentle touch even if your miles apart.

If fact Facebook has that power, last night a picture came aboard and so it is easy to embed right here in this post.  Ok so it didn't embed, tried it wouldn't I forgive Gather and its software. LOL

The picture reads:

FORGIVENESS is not something we do for OTHER PEOPLE

We do it for OURSELVES - to GET WELL and MOVE ON.

How very true.....  We do it for ourselves.  We all know that hate, bitterness, anger can resonate and bounce off walls stronger and harder than those of love, contentment, happiness.

Hey bad news travels faster and so does hate.

But when those walls are the walls of our spirit, our inner self then what destruction they can do for the inner lining of our true spirit and purpose in life.

Stop, forgive, move on and heal.

There is many of us who have pain in our life.

The pain of loss, a death in our family, or circle of friends it is loss and it hurts.

The pain of a separation, a partner who leave us, who wants to throw in the towel, maybe greener grass so they think, maybe just poor relationship skills, maybe just bad habits that keep derailing them and now it effects not just them but you.  And me....lol

The pain of being wronged, losing a job in a tough economy, losing money that we need to pay bills, to help our family.

All pain hurts and the sooner we find ourselves.  We find our center and we look slowly at our current footing we will feel that pain.

We all need to forgive.

Forgive not for them those who hurt us, but for us who needs to move on.  To stop looking back and look at the present footing we stand upon.

God is good!  God wants us to succeed.  Pain and hatred and suffering is a part of life for sure.  But so is forgiveness, love and implementation of a better plan.

We must forgive in order to start the healing process.

We must stand before we can walk.

We must walk before we can run.

We move on, we get better and we start the healing process as soon as we say so.

Say so today.

Say so now.

Forgive and move on!

We are children of God.  We are able to overcome anything.

History shows this time and time again, the strong in faith and love and hope will survive anything.

One prayer at a time.  One step at a time.  This moment in time is yours.  Take control of it.  Take hold of it.  Love always, live for today and Smile.  Laugh a little too.  But smile, look in that mirror that hangs on that wall... and smile and let that soul, that spirit that looks back at you know that not only can you move on, be happy, smile in the face of pain but you will and that will starts now.

That 'will' starts now.

May God Grant  You the Serenity to Accept the Things You Cannot Change... The Courage to Change the Things You Can and the Wisdom to Know the Difference.

May your day be bless and my you start the process of growth and love and joy.

As always smiles sent to you this day .... : )

Use the hurt to heal

Forget your personal tragedy. We are all bitched from the start and
you especially have to be hurt like hell before
you can write seriously. But when you get the
damned hurt, use it-don't cheat with it.
- Ernest Hemingway
Hmmm.....love the quote, it is very expressive and I am sure he experienced the pain to muster the words in the first place.   Some shocking words that opinionated many I am sure. Words full of shock and awe.
Mr. Hemingway wrote these words out personal knowledge and perhaps some venting but it was advice we can break down.
Forget your personal tragedy.
Good luck with that....lol  It is good to laugh at the first sentence is it not. : )
We have to move on from that personal tragedy for sure but forget it maybe just not dwell on it.  Move it to a corner of our heart and mind and let other things fill in the space.  Things that are helpful to ourselves and others, no drugs, no overeating, no getting full of intoxication.
Unless the intoxication is one of faith, hope and love.
Move on from your personal tragedy....yes.  Move on.
We are all bitched from the start and you especially have to be hurt like hell before you can write seriously.
A bit cynical here, 'bitched from the start' hmmm.... I don't know about that we all learn the same way from experience and our family mostly our mother and father I assume he is explaining.   So if indeed he had a broken heart or troubled spirit from the start yes I guess you can say it 'bitched him', hard words but maybe thats how he felt and he expressed it that way for sure.
My own childhood was very stressful, overprotected, mentally abused, used as a pawn, witness to my mothers physical abuse.  These things were very painful caused me to become very passive, a survivalist of life, and perhaps opens me up to being taken advantage of in matters of the heart.  Perhaps....
I don't really like to dwell on the past, it only shows what has happened.
I like to live with love, with kindness, with the passion of making a difference.
I feel a positive energy is all the difference in a world of hurt and fear that slows some down and others grinds them to a halt.
If you looked at Mr. Hemingway's bio he also served.  He served in the Red Cross in World War I , he served his local communities with work at the newspapers and he served us well by his works of art, his written word.  He made a difference for sure.

But when you get the damned hurt, use it-don't cheat with it.
He closes with when you get that or the not really sure that sounds better in that sentence you use that hurt, you don't cheat it.
To me that means use that frustration that pain, that hurt and don't cheat yourself or others by trying to numb it away, hate it away, don't ignore the hurt.  Use it.
How many times do you see a parent create something out of a death of child.  It happens almost every time.  A new law, a not for profit organization that teaches kids and adults not to drive drunk.
A walk for a child that died to get other people aware of the disease/illness that took a child's life much to early.
It moves people to action when we use that hurt.
It makes a difference those support groups that help in the healing.
Don't cheat yourself out of healing.  Use the hurt to heal.
Another step in making a difference in this world is to heal it.  But you have to use all the resources.  All the words no matter how much they sting, you use them to shock, to awe, to explain the hurt.
Smiles to you as always..... Smiles to you : )
