Giving Thanks on Tuesday ~11/30/10

A very happy Tuesday to you all! The last day of November 2010! Another month gone by, another day closer to 2011. Sharing and caring along the way, giving thanks for another day of life a gift, use it wisely that gift of life. Believe that you make a difference and you will.

Look for those oppurtunities to share a smile, spread a kind word. But by all means give those things first to you each morning in that mirror as you get ready.

Then take time to share them with your loved ones, your family.

This not only makes a difference for them but it will make all the difference for you.

Give thanks, send the gift of gratitude out into the world.

Give love and send the gift of appreciation out to thier world.

Give belief and hope and send the gift possbility to those you care about.

The gift of gratitude is free to everyone. It flows just like air that we share and breathe. We just have to accept it and use it. Believe in it and prosper from it.

Giving thanks today and everyday is a habit that once you start using it you will see the magic of gratitude and appreciation.

Things to be thankful for there are so many, my favorite in that video was the kindness of a stranger. My only challenge to you is remeber that you are someone's stranger.

You can take a smile, share it and deliver the magic and the kind word that follows is just another gift that flows with freedom.

Monday Morning Wisdom 11/29/10

Happy Monday everyone and welcome to the first day of deer season in Pennsylvania and Cyber Monday across the nation, well across the world with the Internet. As I type this at 6:40 am, hunters have all ready started to gather at their camps, stands and diners waiting for that magical hour when daylight arrives and the hunt starts.

I know many people who protest the hunt, but in all reality deer need to be thinned out from time to time for proper herd management. They would not have enough food or land if we left them to grow in herd size.

We also would have more automobile accidents because of the endless flow of deer crossing our highways. It is much more humane to kill a deer with a bow or rifle that to watch one cross in front of a Mack truck.

The only hunts that I truly don't care for are the controlled environment hunt where the hunt is fenced in and the big game hunter gets to walk through the zoo like atmosphere to kill the helpless elk, bear, deer etc. To me its like walking through a zoo and shooting through the cages. Not much challenge in that. Just another way to spend money and guarantee a kill.

There will be other hunting today as well bargains on the Internet.

Shoppers will be scouring the net today placing things in shopping carts and using their credit cart to purchase holiday gifts. Cyber Monday the marketplace on the Internet is flooded with emails and advertisements.

Yes, one sentence here for me, IF, you are interested in Avon please click on this ---> Gift Avon Now <---- . I hope I did not offend anyone here but it is Cyber Monday.

Lastly the Pittsburgh Steelers won a thriller yesterday against the Buffalo Bills 16-13 in overtime. My Cowboys did not do so well on Turkey day but dang that Cowboys Stadium looks good for this years Super Bowl, LOL. My Janice who is a New England Patriots fan is happy her Pat's with the help of Tom Brady beat the harmless Detroit Lions on Turkey day. So, the moral of the story don't let football make or break your day, it is only a game and they get paid for this work, win or lose. Sure its nice to have bragging rights in your pocket but hey, its only a game.

Sunday Prayer and Sunday Thoughts ~11/28/2010

Happy Sunday everyone and welcome to a great day that ends a long holiday weekend for most. Of course some traveled and are yet to arrive back, some stayed in and worked but the season of giving thanks has come again and my Sunday prayer is that you made the most of it and that you made some memories that will last a lifetime.

My Sunday thought is that we don't let the season of thanks end, that we let it carry on through the season and into 2011.

We all with fore thought and action make this thought and perhaps a prayer a reality.

We write the script of our life and we are responsible of the dreams coming to life that we dreamt.

Of course not all dreams come true based on thought alone, planning and and execution of said plan with action and detection of any adjustments needed. It really is that easy, and it really is that easy not to do.

It is always our choice and it will always be our choice.

Even happiness is our choice, yours and mine.

Flowing into Friday 11/26/10

Happy Friday everyone! Black Friday 2010! The day when the retailers have proclaimed that they have enough sales to push their ledgers into the black and start showing a profit. The day that they open their doors at unheard of hours so that we can stand in line and trudge in and push and shove to get that special of the year.

I slept in this morning, sleep is important, more important than spending money on something I truly don't need, and perhaps don't really want. Sleep is good and coffee right now is even better.

So did you get out into the cold this morning? Did you trudge out into the darkness, into your car and drive to the local mall or strip center?

Did you and if you did was it worth it? Was it the item you looked for or the experience just to stand in line with other like minded people to kick off the holiday season? Hmmmm, it could have been the later some people love the sport of it. Look forward to your comments.

Today as we flow into the day, please remember the video from yesterday's post, a video and poem from an 11 year old girl that wrote I need what I want. Take the time to go back or forget about that here it is again just click on play. It is that important for me to place it again.

I hope you think about it. This puts the holiday into perspective and should be shared.

Giving Thanks on Thanksgiving ~11/25/2010

Happy Thanksgiving everyone, yes this may be my latest post in quite a while but a post none the less. I wanted to take time out to give thanks to God, to my family, and to my friends.

I consider all of you that read my post a friend and thank you for your comments and your return each and every time that you stop by.

The whole day as is everyday is a chance to make a difference. To share a smile, a kind word and enjoy family and friendship.

I can say confidently that mission accomplished.

We traveled to Michigan today so Janice could see her family and friends and so that Tori my daughter could spend quality time with her mom's family and her mom. My thoughts of the day were ones of how blessed we are to have family and friends and to arrive safely after such a long drive.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family and my hope is that your day was as memorable and safe as mine was.

May God richly bless you as he has me and my family this day.

A Wish on Wednesday 11/24/10

Happy Wednesday everyone and welcome to the day before Thanksgiving! A day for family, friends and giving thanks for the year gone by and the holiday season on to come.

Black Friday ads will be followed and planned out with care, we will stand in lines at very odd times of the day, coffee in hand to keep us warm and wait for the chance to get that Black Friday special.

We then will wait in another line just to get out of the store and go on to the next stop and savings, oh how the cash and CREDIT will flow. Spend wisely, and know that the January bill will indeed come, with interest attached of course.

The six Human Needs

In relation to the holiday take a close look at how the six human needs align with what ceremony and practice of the day.

Here is that closer look.

Human need number 1

Certainty and Comfort ~ without question we know that the holiday has the tradition of gathering around the table. Grace and thanks will be said, bread will be passed around with plenty of food to share. The comfort of family and friends and the collection of stories and conversation passed around.

Need number one met in completion.

Human need number 2

Uncertainty and variety ~ the same goes for the variety of food, the taste and the conversation, oh the uncertainty of that. The topics should be brief of course, no politics should be discussed or things from the past that could jump on the conversation table. Old Uncle Joe seems to throw out some topics that make the table cringe. Do you have an Uncle Joe?

Human need number 3

Significance ~ the desire to be heard. The desire to feel that we contributed to the conversation, the meal, the uniqueness of what we bring to this holiday tradition. We all desire that yet we want the comfort of unity. How important the contrast's are in life. We want to be heard but yet we like to fit in and perhaps stay safe and secure in our patterns.

Human need number 4

Connection and Love ~ The big word that starts with the "L", how tradition and family bring that to this holiday. Oh the memories that will be made and shared for days and weeks to come. The passion of the holiday is always present. The standing and long held traditions are all about the love and care and connection. We just need to reach out and embrace just as an equal proportions.

Human need number 5

Growth ~ It has been said that with out growth we don't really stand still we digress and we go backwards. Everyone has different needs and different thoughts and opinions. It is with our acceptance and tolerance of difference we shall grow and maybe yes maybe learn a thing or two from a different perspective.

Human need number 6

Contribution ~ This season as we line up to spend money and spend time. Maybe just maybe we can contribute something of real value. Time or resources to a food pantry in our community. Purge our closets of old and gently worn clothes and give to the homeless or Salvation Army. Take in a pet that has no home from the Animal Rescue League. We can all do something, even if it is just one thing.

Happy Tuesday everyone! A Thanksgiving week just two days away. On Thanksgiving day we always give thanks, we say grace to bless the food at the table and those who sit around it we wish blessings upon them as well. We give thanks.

My hope is that everyday we give thanks, we show gratitude to God for the gift of life and all of the nature that surrounds us.

My hope is that we share this appreciation with those that we love and those who love us not just on Thanksgiving day but everyday.

Monday Morning Wisdom 11/22/10

Happy Monday everyone and welcome to a great day! Now many of you wonder why this day can be so great, well ok lets run with that question.

This day, this Monday is a great day indeed, not a historical basic but because we, yes we, both you and me make it so, by our words, our deeds, our thoughts and our actions.

We make it every day the way we choose to make it.

Yes in fact you can wake up dragging your thoughts and your feet and feel like the whole world is against you just because it is Monday. You can choose that way of entering your day.

Or, you can hit the floor with a smile, an energy that says just in your actions that your in control of the day and by golly your going to make it the best day yet. You, yes you will make a difference in someone's life just by showing up and sharing a kind word or a simple sincere smile. We all have that ability.

One thing that I know, when I enter the day that way, the goodness in others comes back to me, I don't do it mind you for that reason but I do it none the same and it comes back. It always does.

So this Monday, enter the day with energy. Whether it is manufactured by an energy drink, coffee, or tea or you just pull down from the depths of your soul and you just will yourself the energy to carry yourself forward. We all have that energy and we all can make it happen.

So this day, Monday November 22, 2010 lets start the week with a knowledge that we choose how to react to life. We can always stay hungry by looking for that next bright spot that we can make even brighter.

We can stay foolish by not following status quo thoughts and becoming our own thinker based on our ability not past results.

Saturday Morning Reflection 11/20/2010

Happy Saturday everyone, a new day with a new beginning that you, yes you get to write.

It is your script, your recipe for life, love and happiness. Write your script well, don't be afraid to scratch out this line or that line. Rework the script, write it the way you would have it and by all means your life may need to be improvised. Thats what life is all about sometimes.

My reflection for today, just some thoughts not a post from the past mind you but some thoughts from my last two posts. Thursday's post on acceptance and Friday's post on tolerance.

Both posts refer to these two words in the meaning of accepting others and tolerating differences. I wrote in regards to sharing the smile and a kind word no matter what.

My reflections of today take another shot at these two words and in brief another angle.

Sometimes we accept and tolerate our life as it is, not as we want it to be. Hours and days go by with disdain and heart ache instead of passion and excitement.

On a very personal note, my parents both lived in agony and abuse. My dad even though I love him very much was very abusive, both physical and mental to my mom. I lived through that and anguished, and hurt and felt very helpless to do anything.

They invited me thru birth to come live with them and accept them as my parents but to tell you the truth it was pure hell. They did of course teach me a valuable lesson on how not to be abusive in that manner to any of my relationships but the lesson I found in my early years of relationships was that I had trouble communicating and expressing my version of love.

It happens, it may be happening to someone close in your life. But over the years I have learned how to communicate, sure I still struggle, but I like to think that I like to make a difference in peoples lives, those close to me and those far away. I like, no I love to laugh and show some quick wit and cause others to laugh or at the very least giggle and at the very least ponder what I just said in jest.

Laughter is the best way to overcome a hurting heart, or any anguish present.

Laughter can heal a sickness, or regenerate a body as well as a mind.

So today, in reflection I ask you to look at your acceptance and tolerance of your life at this moment. How is it? Are you building bridges to the future, or are you digging a ditch in desperation?

Don't dig to deep, the hole you may be digging is always to harder to climb out. Build the bridge to joy, to love, to happiness and share those smiles and laughs with those you love and those who love you.

Flowing into Friday 11/19/10

Happy Friday everyone! A very happy Friday to you all! The weekend is here, yeah! The light up night in Pittsburgh is tonight! Yeah! Fireworks! Hot Chocolate! Santa Claus! lights Yeah!

My Janice is even excited about the ice skating down at PPG Rink so that get a big Yeah from her.

I don't skate, I call it falling so thats not me, but I will try to take some pictures.

Yesterday I wrote about acceptance and how when we do have more of this in our life we have a greater chance for happiness and a greater chance to share joy and love.

Tolerance –noun

a fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward those whose opinions, practices, race, religion, nationality, etc., differ from one's own; freedom from bigotry.

a fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward opinions and practices that differ from one's own.

interest in and concern for ideas, opinions, practices, etc., foreign to one's own; a liberal, undogmatic viewpoint.

the act or capacity of enduring; endurance: My tolerance of noise is limited.

The importance of being objective and fair and yes permissive is equally important. If we could teach acceptance and tolerance to our children and our children's children what a different world we would live in.

Now my thoughts and beliefs have always tried to focus on to have acceptance and tolerance is not to just go with the flow when the goal or plan of your destiny is not being met. For trying to head east to watch a sunset will always lead to disappointment. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and getting the same result and expecting something to change in the results.

It does not happen that way. Never has, Never will.

Change is good.

Change is perhaps the one thing that has allowed great thoughts to manifest.

Never let another take advantage of you and expect them to stop with out change. You must take the reins of your life. You must take control of your destiny and follow your heart and listen to your intuition and follow the path that you believe will lead you there.

Will you always be right? No

Will you always be better for doing so, for changing? I say yes, because the oly failure in life is having never tried at all.
