Monday Morning Wisdom ~ 03/08/10

Good day everyone and welcome to Monday and a Happy Monday to you all. Woke to birds singing today, how sweet the sound. No alarm clock rang this morning, just the sounds of birds calling in the season of spring. Our mantra for today:

Spring in 11 days countdown the time and enjoy how it passes-

Spring the sound of birds how how they sing-

Spring the season now insight-

11 days now how it feels so right.

Yesterday here in Pittsburgh was so kind to the senses. Blue skies, sunshine, did not leave the driveway in my car until after 5pm.

Took time to enjoy the day, soak it all in.

Yesterday I followed the flow of the day. I go this feeling of unsettlement around 5pm, wanted to go out to the local Target. No other reason, did not really need anything. Made excuses to leave really, things like I needed to get a Starbucks, drive through a car wash.

Did I really need this.....No.

So I left anyway, and listened to the forecast first on a weather channel in the car. No rain until Wednesday evening, car wash it is.

Then I switched the radio 3 channels in a row and stopped on NPR.

Now first off I never listen to NPR, ok maybe 2 x a year. Glad I did this time. Within 5 minutes a segment call Humankind came on and talked about the Science of Gratitude. Now this got my attention as I waited in line for my turn at the car wash.

They spoke of the wave of interest in positive psychology and the study of gratitude on the body and mind. The spoke to a author by the name of Catherine Price from Oakland, California. She spoke in detail about keeping a Gratitude journal and each day writing what she was happy for 3 things and once or twice a week what she was grateful for. Studied the effects after a 6 week test of this. She found that not only did she feel better but felt more productive.

She also spoke about writing a gratitude letter to her grandmother and explained how she felt writing and also reading it to her 84 old grandmother. The one real comment grand ma had was she had no plans of leaving this earth anytime soon.

I guess grand ma thought this was a send off letter..... But it was not. It was a letter to give thanks and praise for the life grand ma shared with Catherine over the years.

The show was about 15 minutes long and I was so blessed to hear it. Was this what was stirring my soul to get in the car and turn on NPR on my car radio?

Things do happen for a reason. I will share more tomorrow from this show.

But for now take the time to enjoy the week. Take the time to listen to your spirit. Take time to plant seeds for gratitude and harvest the joy and tranquility.

Speaking of seeds and planing. I also purchased 5 packets of seeds and a 36 pocket greenhouse tray. Let me tell you how great it felt to purchase and dream of that future planting and sowing.

We all sow what we reap. Reap wisely.

Till next time smile, start your smile off for yourself then share it with another.
