A super Thursday wish sent to you all! May your day be richly blessed, smiles come from near and far. Love always be at your door and in your heart and all the magic be at your fingertips.
May you look at life through the eyes of a child, fresh, magical and full of curiosity. We have that power but my theory is will we? Will we allow our class society dictate our freshness, our magic and our curiosity? Hmmm? Do you ever wonder why we don't?
Last night I awoke and watched a rerun on CNN of the President's speech at the memorial for the 6 fallen from the assignation attempt on the Congresswoman from Arizona, Rep. Giffords.
There were many great moments i that special and speech, the fact that she opened her eyes last night in the hospital and the announcement of that fact was one.
The brief bio of each person and what they contributed was another. Even though it is never enough to try to understand anyone in 100 words or less, nor was that his intention I am sure. But he wanted to briefly share the power of what they offered in the time he had.
When he got to Christiana Taylor Green the nine year old who was fatally shot and died on a tragic day even as she was born on a tragic day on 09/11/01. Her life short but full of love and curiosity and magic and joy.
President Obama in his speech last night and this is quoted:
"I believe we can be better. Those who died here, those who saved lives here – they help me believe. We may not be able to stop all evil in the world, but I know that how we treat one another is entirely up to us. I believe that for all our imperfections, we are full of decency and goodness, and that the forces that divide us are not as strong as those that unite us."
"That’s what I believe, in part because that’s what a child like Christina Taylor Green believed. Imagine: here was a young girl who was just becoming aware of our democracy; just beginning to understand the obligations of citizenship; just starting to glimpse the fact that someday she too might play a part in shaping her nation’s future. She had been elected to her student council; she saw public service as something exciting, something hopeful. She was off to meet her congresswoman, someone she was sure was good and important and might be a role model. She saw all this through the eyes of a child, undimmed by the cynicism or vitriol that we adults all too often just take for granted."
"I want us to live up to her expectations. I want our democracy to be as good as she imagined it. All of us – we should do everything we can to make sure this country lives up to our children’s expectations."
Well said, if only we grab hold of these words, study them, wish upon them, plan them out and put them into daily practice?
Will we? Should we? Can we? Do we have collectively the class to do so? Or are we doomed as a nation to be rattled by the status quo?
Its all up to us, each one of us.
We can change someones perspective of life with a sincere smile.
We can change someones perspective of life with a kind word.
We can change someones perspective of life with a bit of love sent their way.
We can and we should and if we want to have the view from the eyes of a child we must. Because thats how they view it from the start.
Can we really change someones heart with just a smile, a kind word and a bit of love sent their way? No a person filled with hate and bigotry will still have that, like the rat in the cage in some lab they will have that hate instilled in them, trained like a dog or cat at youth to BE that way.
Domesticated that way with hateful and angry seeds planted deep and rooted deeper.
But.....
We can change the moment, change the flow of the water rushing from their tide, the water that says this is who I am to maybe this is who I truly want to be. Good, full of curiosity and joy and magic and love. Like that of a child.
The video courtesy of PBS I hope you enjoy it and watch it sometime today, maybe now or maybe later but sometime today.
Enjoy your day and may it be a day filled with
smiles and magic and love!
May your smiles abound.
May your joy lift another spirit.
May you stay hungry and stay foolish!
May your heart be warmed because it always was.
Smiles sent your way this day and always!
Happy Thursday everyone! : )
