Giving Thanks on Tuesday ~09/14/2010

Giving Thanks on Tuesday from Janice and myself to all of you who wished us well for our upcoming wedding. It is well received and we are very grateful for your comments. It was a pleasure reading the comments here and on Facebook. If your own facebook please stop on over and friend us. It would be great to friend you back and follow your thoughts and activities.

So the days are getting shorter and the dark is coming sooner and the fall wind she is a blowing in. All things that we can be grateful for and give thanks.

Gratitude is often a word we use like a buzz word but when we dig deeper the meaning has so much power to enhance and change our world and those who live around us.

Looking closer at the meaning of the word. Gratitude originates from the Latin word gratus—meaning “thankful, pleasing”—which has its roots in gratia, which means “favor, pleasing quality or goodwill.” Derivatives of the Latin root can be found in many other languages. In Lithuanian, gririu means “to praise or celebrate.” In the 13th century, the short prayer before a meal came to be called grace. And in Greek, the word for “grace” is charis—the root of the word charisma.

So putting it all together to have gratitude is to be thankful and to feel pleased and to give praise with fervor and charisma to the world around us.

Imagine if you will the power in that simple act. Give thanks and praise with energy and passion to the world around us.

In church on Sunday when we sing we pass along a strong sense of gratitude and praise to God.

In our daily prayers and meditations we give thanks and praise and enter a state of gratitude. So should it be in our daily dealings with others.

When I enter my day, I almost always find myself humming or whistling a tune. When asked how I am doing with almost no hesitation I state 'great' or 'awesome' because inside I really do feel grateful or life and the gifts given. Gifts like health, a sound mind, my senses to enjoy another day with nature and family and friends. A chance to make a difference.

So with that I wish that we all would practice the simple act of gratitude and sharing a smile. The powerful gift we can give with no real cost but many rewards. The energy that flows out when we send positive thoughts is very powerful and lasting. Lasting in us and in those around us.

Enjoy your Tuesday and enjoy the gifts of life and nature that surrounds us all.

Some thoughts on sharing a smile, your smile with so many who come within your circle of influence.

Till next time....share a smile, make a dream come true and make someone's else a bit happier.
