Happy Tuesday everyone and welcome to another day for feeling, sharing and strengthening your gratitude muscle. We all realize that we must maintain our tone by working out, lifting weights, running and walking uses our arms and leg muscles. We all understand this if you don't use it -- you lose it. The heart is a muscle as well, not only as a pump for our blood which feeds all important organs but as a extra sense that knows when another person is hurting.
But do we really listen and react with gratefulness or do we just keep plugging along.
Do we take a moment to listen to silence, do we take a moment to see another angle, do we take a moment to seek first to understand first then take the leap of action?
All my life I had been looking for something, and
everywhere I turned someone tried to tell me what it was.
I accepted their answers too, though they were often in
contradiction and even self-contradictory.
I was naïve. I was looking for myself
and asking everyone except myself questions which
I,and only I, could answer.
It took me a long time and much painful boomeranging of
my expectations to achieve a realization everyone else
appears to have been born with:
that I am nobody but myself.
~Ralph Ellison, "Battle Royal"
Do we truly listen to our heart? Do we truly follow the intuition and listen closer?
Do we really take time to be silent?
We are the captain of our ships.
We are the producer of our movie.
The film of life is running every second, every day.
Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone
else's opinions, their lives a mimicry,
their passions a quotation.
~Oscar Wilde, De Profundis, 1905
How thought awakening that quote by Oscar Wilde. Are you your own, do you allow others to shape and mold you?
Do you allow the radio and TV to shape your ideas about life?
Do you let another person's opinion about what they think you are count in what you allow to happen?
Are you grateful?
Do you plant seeds in your children's heart about the power of being thankful, not just at the dinner table but at the sandbox, the baseball diamond, the local grocery store and the local mall.
We need to teach, we need to plant seeds of gratitude not only within our life but the lives of others. Not in a way of dominance but diligence, not in the way of expectation but a daily exercise that someone can see and hear us carry out.
Strengthen that Gratitude Muscle today, tomorrow and allow your spirit to listen along life's challenges.
Live, love and laugh and don't forget to smile!
Some thoughts on sharing a smile, your smile with so many who come within your circle of influence.
Till next time....share a smile, make a dream come true and make someone's else a bit happier.
