Some Thoughts on a Sunday ~ 06/27/10

Good Morning everyone and welcome to Sunday!  I send you a smile and the wish for eternal contentment that what you have right now, is not only enough but enough to share and give to this world that we all share.

Sunday, maybe the best day of the week for reflection, worship and rest.  We share this day with so many people, our family, friends, and people who join us in song and prayer at our local churches.

During that football season, we share this day with screaming and passionate fans looking to be entertained by our local team.

Sunday is indeed a very good day.

I sit here with my coffee at my side and the birds singing away outside my window.  Nothing like the taste of coffee in the morning but on a Sunday morning, it is great to start the day with that taste and aroma.

My plans are many for today, lots of work to do and partake in. But pray and meditate I will do as always.  To be thankful to God in prayer and listen to God in the stillness of meditation is perhaps the most important part of any morning.

Earlier I wished for you the reader eternal contentment and the knowledge that right now, yes this very second what you have is more than enough for you but also enough to share with others in this world.

We never really seem to acknowledge what we have is enough for us to sustain ourselves and prosper with. Think of this thought for a second.  What is contentment?

Contentment is defined as according to a recent Google search:

happiness with one's situation in life

Contentment is the experience of satisfaction and being at ease in one's situation.

A state of mind in which one's desires are confined to his lot whatever it may be (Ti1 6:6; Co2 9:8). It is opposed to envy (Jam 3:16), avarice (Heb 13:5), ambition (Pro 13:10), anxiety (Mat 6:25, Mat 6:34), and repining (Co1 10:10). ...

A heightened sense of appreciation brings contentment. Contentment is the brother of peace; it is finding great joy in what you already have without thought or demand for more. The man who counts his blessings far sooner than his burdens and seems to always have enough, that man is content. ...

I can live with any and all of these explanations on the word contentment.

Some quotes on the word contentment:

“We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.”

~ Frederick Keonig

*******

“Contentment is a pearl of great price, and whoever procures it at the expense of ten thousand desires makes a wise and a happy purchase”

~ John Balguy

So take the moment to think deeply on this word contentment and ask yourself are you?

Do you take the time to count your blessings for what you truly have?

Today this very day ponder these questions and enjoy your day with whatever plans that you have.  May your moments with today be more than enough to make a difference in someone's life.

Share a smile and share the love with someone today.

Till next time....share a smile, make a dream come true and make someone's else a bit happier.
