Think of our culture right now, and the tools we use to stay in touch and obtain instant gratifiation
Lets see.....
The entertainment culture, digital music instead of the record and turn table
Cable TV with 100's of channels that we surf through and DVR
Instant news on twitter, and facebook.
You Tube videos that go viral at a moments notice
Dash cams and phone cams that record just about everything and played over and over
The communication culture, the cell phone, the smart phone, the voice mail, the text all instantly distractions that cause us all to be less patient.
The family is pulled apart by the culture of high school sports, dance, and other distractions that we seldom sit down to eat together unless its a holiday.
We wonder why patience is hard to obtain and cultivate... we wonder.
So maybe just maybe we need to take a moment and breathe.
Plant a flower or pick one
Take a stroll or just sit still
Look up in the sky and look at the majestic heavens and cloud formations
Soak up some real sun instead of the tanning salon
Spend some time with those we love instead of just texting them and facebooking them
Take a spontaneous trip to nowhere but just get in the car and drive and find out whats happening over there...
Patience a very hard thing to cultivate in todays culture
In love hard to find because we want everything right now
.
In politics harder to find because we are constantly tearing apart the other party instead of growing solutions
In race even harder to find patience because of the constant pressure to judge insteadof really trying to understand each other. To love each other and to care about our society.
Patience a very hard thing to cultivate but maybe, yes maybe its time to plow the ground we walk on and till the soil and plant the seeds and water the soil and provide less weeds and protect the crop we all truly need more of.
The crop called patience.
May love abound your way today and everyday
