Fun Filled Friday *New* July 01, 2011

Happy Friday everyone and welcome to the a new month!  New opportunities to make a difference not only in your life but the lives of others. Welcome to the long fourth of July weekend. Full of parades, waving flags, cookouts, concerts, and fireworks.

This post every Friday will try to add a little fun, some humor, a fun song, a picture or too and today some video that we hope will make you laugh, make you think and maybe even share the power of laughter. : )
Today we are sharing laughter, it is a very contagious thing and when done with energy and joy overflowing well you just have to share it.
So on with the show:

Some great 4th of July recipes:
Red, White and Bleu Slaw  ( serves 6)

Ingredients

  • 6 cups angel hair coleslaw mix
  • 12 cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 3/4 cup coleslaw salad dressing
  • 3/4 cup crumbled blue cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup real bacon bits

Directions

  • In a large bowl, combine the coleslaw mix, tomatoes, salad dressing and 1/2 cup blue cheese. Cover and refrigerate until serving. Just before serving, sprinkle with bacon bits and remaining cheese.

    FireCracker Cakes

    INGREDIENTS:

    1 pound boxed cake mix (16-ounce)
    1 can (16-ounce) prepared vanilla frosting
    1 bag (16-ounce) candy coated milk chocolate pieces
    1 bag red licorice twists
    Waxed paper
    Butter or solid shortening
    8 aluminum juice cans (6 ounce)


    PREPARATION:

    From the waxed paper, cut 8 4-inch x 6 ½-inch rectangles and 8 2-inch circles. Liberally brush the inside of the juice cans with the butter.

    Line the cans with the waxed paper, beginning by first pressing the circles into the bottom and then lining the inner sides with the rectangles.

    Prepare the cake mix and fill the juice cans. Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Once baked, cool the cakes for 10 minutes and then remove and un mold them. Cool the cakes completely before decorating.

    Ice the cakes. Decorate the sides and top with candy coated milk chocolate pieces, Cut licorice twists into thin, 1-inch long pieces and insert as a fuse.
