Happy Wednesday to you all! The NHL chase for the Stanley Cup playoffs start tonight and the Pens are playing at home against the Tampa Bay Lightening.... GO PENS< LETS GO PENS > : )
Ok, so thats one of my wishes for today!
The next wish has more substance and meaning of course so here goes.
My wish is that we would
learn to be kind
to ourselves and of
course each other.
Big bold letters, bright colors, focus on you first so you can know how it is to be kind to another.
Step one: Look in the mirror this morning and say 7 kind things about yourself, sincere and direct eye contact with you and believe what the 7 things are and that they are true.
Step two: Self talk what are you saying to yourself on a consistent basis, take special note of this, really pay attention to what your hearing inside. Is it positive and proactive and empowering or is it slowly tearing your down in a consistent manner?
Step three: Plan a simple, easy task that pampers you for a job well done on step one and two. A long, hot shower or bath with candles, soft music. A favorite dinner or meal that you make just for you. A cup of tea or coffee, a walk in the garden or local park or lake. Get up, get moving do something for you that rewards your efforts into being kind to you.
Step four: Repeat steps 1 thru 3 before going to step 5. Be kind to you for a repetitive pattern for 3 weeks. Yes this is homework and if your feeling overwhelmed in life then you better take care of you before you attempt to really be kind to your partner or another.
Now this is not something to just read and put on the back page of your life. Put it front and center. Why?
A couple quotes to ponder before we go on:
All my life I had been looking for something, and everywhere I turned someone tried to tell me what it was. I accepted their answers too, though they were often in contradiction and even self-contradictory. I was naïve. I was looking for myself and asking everyone except myself questions which I, and only I, could answer. It took me a long time and much painful boomeranging of my expectations to achieve a realization everyone else appears to have been born with: that I am nobody but myself.
~Ralph Ellison, "Battle Royal"
*********
Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one's definition of your life; define yourself.
~Harvey Fierstein
How sorrowful it could be to bully yourself into silence.
How sorrowful it must be to victimize your self from greatness.
Define your life. Write your destiny. Live with happiness.
Step 5: After you have had that 3 weeks of kindness with oneself. Teach another first with love and kindness what you have learned about you and being kind. About patience, hope, effort, planning, self prophetic words that become real. Teach another to feel special not because you said so but because they learned from them selves that they are.
To teach is to learn twice.
~Joseph Joubert
