Monday Morning Wisdom ~10/04/10

Hoping you have a great Monday, by now you know my thoughts on having a great day no matter what day of the week it is. You, We are all in charge of how we perceive the day and we control our destiny through out our life. We choose, we are in charge.

Last week I shared with you a video I happened to find at TED.com. It was the 2005 Commencement Speech from Steve Jobs, of Apple fame to the 2005 graduation class at Stanford Univ. Click on the link to find it and if you have not seen it please check it out. It is well worth the 15 minutes.

The speech ends with his recollection of the last words in the Whole Earth Catalog that stated to its last issue readers 'Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish'. As promised I wanted to share on these words this week.

Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish'

To me, these words apply strongly in every sense of human potential and human imagination. Some how along the way in life many of us fall prey to what others want for us. What others think we should be able to do and what they think we can't do. How brazen of them don't you think.

They usually very early in our life taught us to play safe, play fair, share, and understand that you may have to do those things all on your own. But you will be a better person for it. You will have disappointments they taught us, and it is what it is, so get used to it. How we learned these things early in our life.

Stay Hungry, Stay foolish is perhaps a new way to focus on what freedom we had as a small child, we were hungry for knowledge, fun, creativity thrived and we thought about that trip to the moon we may make one day. Or maybe we imagined being a doctor, fireman or some other important position that would make a difference in a big way. So early on many of us wanted to make a difference in a big way.

Stay Hungry, bring back that drive to thrive. Bring to the front of your mind the need to dream and imagine in a big way. Dream big, don't be trapped by what others think of you and if you live by the quote 'It is none of your business what others think about you' it will resonate and become part of your fabric and your values will take over and your light will shine the way.

Stay Hungry, when we are hungry, truly hungry we have a laser beam like focus to get our hunger quenched or fulfilled. Like a hungry lion or bear finds his next meal so should we stay on track for our next success.

Stay Foolish, so many times along the way an idea comes to light that becomes another persons target for foolery. When any great innovation comes along the ridicule of the idea or thought was to many foolish, it can't be done, a pipe dream. What if the light bulb as never invented, or the phone, or the plane or the car what if those 'fools' just gave up after constant failure, we would be lighting a candle or oil lamp, brushing the horse, fixing the wagon wheel a simple life and a hard life.

Stay Foolish, become the change agent for your circle of influence, your family and friends. Practice gratitude, practice heavy dosages of positive self talk, stay smiling and share the potent smile with another and watch the smile returned or at the very least let them wonder why your so happy. I may drive them somewhere, but it will have an impact on them.

Stay Foolish and watch in the mirror your transformation each morning as you cheer yourself on for the new day ahead, start each day with an affirmation and a promise that this day will be your best day, you deserve it, you have the passion and the drive to follow your dreams regardless of what others think or say of you. Remember what others think of you is none of your business anyway.

Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish don't succumb to the worlds plan for you or what failures you have had in the past don't let them influence your future. All great actions and deeds started with a small step, another step and then another, a failure, maybe another failure but the human spirit, your spirit can rework, redo and start fresh with a new plan and a way to make your dream happen. Dream Big!
