Happy Thursday everyone! A new month and a new school year for my daughter Tori. She is a junior this year and her second week of school is almost finished. School seems to start every year earlier. I remember when school started after Labor day and we still got out early in June.
Tonight is open house at my daughters high school, my old high school as well. As a parent you get your first opportunity to get involved, understand the curriculum and put a face with the name of the teacher. I go ever year the desks look smaller and the halls look bigger.
How it is funny the perception of size and space as we grow older. The trip around the sun seems to change our outlook on things.
We tend to think as we age that how will the next generation make it, and as the years go by, the next generation does just fine.
We seem to understand that we may not be in it, that time and space and how will they make it without us. They will do just fine.
Our parents said the same thing about the coming years. As did the parents during the Cold War, the Depression, the Dark Ages.
So my theory. Take your time to enjoy life, its changes will come and adjust naturally.
Take your time to give thanks for what you have, it changes will come and believe me you can't take it with you. So enjoy it, enjoy the smile, enjoy the laughter, enjoy life.
I have to share a little humor here, seems like the place in my post.
A man who is dying makes his wife promise that when he dies his money will be placed in his casket so he can 'take it with him'. He wanted to spend it or at the very least have it with him. So at the funeral the guests who knew about this wish sees her stick an envelope in the deceased suit coat. As she walks away back and out into the fresh air a guest asks her if she did it, did she put the money with her deceased husband. The answer "of course, I wrote him a check, if he can cash....he can spend it."
It made me chuckle and I hope you shared a laugh as well.
