Monday Morning Wisdom ~ 07/05/10

Happy Monday everyone and welcome to another great day and great week to follow!  You gotta believe because belief in oneself is everything would you not agree? So if that is the case is belief in your day and what you can accomplish not equally as true?  You bet it is.

For most people they are off today part of a holiday weekend.  For others it is back to work and being put into service to accomplish what ever it is they are tasked to do as their occupation.

We are put on this earth to serve, serve our creator and serve our fellow man.

We were not put on earth to be a wall flower, or to just hang out in the garden of life and just exist.

Service is part of the plan. Service is what we do when we raise a child and develop their skills to take over into adulthood.

A quote on service:

“Men do not really live for honors or for pay; their happiness is not in the taking and holding, but in the doing, the striving, the building, the serving”

~Harry Marsh quote

When we serve others we not only put out effort but we complete the cycle of production. The reason we build and create is to serve something.  Our design is to help and simplify and to serve some type of purpose or lack or even just to beautify but we design and build to serve the common need.

So today as we go off to work or enjoy the extended weekend take a moment or two just to ask yourself what I am doing has it been done in service of another's needs.

A smile is a simple act of service. When you smile at another the instinct to smile back and perpetuate the act is immediate and swift.  Almost by design a smile gives and gives back.

The smile simple yet profound and with so much impact can touch a soul more than even we can understand.

Last night at the Pittsburgh Fourth of July fireworks they added some quotes to the music and the explosions of color and sound.  The one quote that stands out to me was the one that follows here:

“Ask not what your country can do for you.

Ask what you can do for your country.”

~John Fitzgerald Kennedy quotes

How can you serve your country today? What can you put back instead of just taking?

We are a country of consumption.  We consume much more than we put back when you take a hard look at it.  But what can you put back or give to your country today.

The thanks that we give to our American soldier can never be taken lightly.  They serve every day for our freedom.

For that I say Thank You!

The thanks that is given to our first responders to disaster, our police, fire and paramedics often goes with little thanks until they respond to our needs.

For that I say Thank You!

The thanks that is given to our family for all that they have given, in spirit and in practice often goes unnoticed and sometimes until we really need them or they need us goes with out thanks or effort.

For that I say Thank You!

What can you give back today?  How can you serve?

Something to think about and as always welcome to another great day!

Till next time....share a smile, make a dream come true and make someone's else a bit happier.
