Thursday Theory 06/17/10

Welcome to another Thursday and I theorize with the right attitude and preparation it will be a great day for both of us. Yes I am speaking to you. So grab that coffee, tea or other beverage and lets put our thought/thinking into action this morning.

Last Thursday I started a new subject format for Thursday so this is week 2 of that. I want to get you to think a little, you don't have to agree with any theory its just a theory of mine thats all but I hope it can stimulate thought. I more time I want to take the time to explain the word theory.

Theory is defined as:

1. A set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of facts or phenomena, especially one that has been repeatedly tested or is widely accepted and can be used to make predictions about natural phenomena.

2. The branch of a science or art consisting of its explanatory statements, accepted principles, and methods of analysis, as opposed to practice: a fine musician who had never studied theory.

3. A set of theorems that constitute a systematic view of a branch of mathematics.

4. Abstract reasoning; speculation: a decision based on experience rather than theory.

5. A belief or principle that guides action or assists comprehension or judgment: staked out the house on the theory that criminals usually return to the scene of the crime.

6. An assumption based on limited information or knowledge; a conjecture.

So lets run with that for now and your comments our always welcome and appreciated.

My subject all week has been wrapped around the word 'Focus' so lets stick with that for now.

I want to explore the why and why not's of this word 'Focus'.

The first if indeed we agree on what we focus on expands. This video will give more explanation, watch the brief message and images.

What we focus on expands, it grows in our mind like the images we see, we read and the words we use and focus on.

The only real question that remains is what do you focus on? What do you allow into your mind, your power plant for your body.

Why do we allow images, like the news and anger to roam the halls of our mind?

Theory time, its just mine so not real or anything but food for thought here.

I have always believed that how we are developed at a very young age shapes and molds our future and it does. The lessons we learned and the multitude of moments that we heard the word no or you can't, don't and many times without any background of why we just trusted. We became over achievers or lazy from what was given or not given too us in form of instruction or destruction.

However I also believe that the past does not have to, not for a single second dictate anyones future. What we focus on now will create our now thoughts and moments.

So why do we focus on the news and mostly bad?

Well for one thing bad news sells, we buy into it because its fresh, new, dramatic and bold.

We not everyone mind you, drive past an accident or fire or destruction and rubber neck to see what we truly feel bad about but the shock and awe of it fires the want to see it into action. We can not always change that without focus on changing it.

If we can apply this quote:

“If there is dissatisfaction with the status quo, good. If there is ferment, so much the better. If there is restlessness, I am pleased.

Then let there be ideas, and hard thought, and hard work. If man feels small, let man make himself bigger.”

~Hubert H. Humphrey

We have the power to choose our focus and run away from the 'status quo'. We have the right to choose our path, God gave that with the gift of life, and the free will he gave to all of us.

A passage that also fits:

1 Corinthians 7:17-24 (New International Version)

17 Nevertheless, each one should retain the place in life that the Lord assigned to him and to which God has called him. This is the rule I lay down in all the churches.

18 Was a man already circumcised when he was called? He should not become uncircumcised. Was a man uncircumcised when he was called? He should not be circumcised.

19 Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God's commands is what counts.

20 Each one should remain in the situation which he was in when God called him.

21 Were you a slave when you were called? Don't let it trouble you—although if you can gain your freedom, do so.

22 For he who was a slave when he was called by the Lord is the Lord's freedman; similarly, he who was a free man when he was called is Christ's slave.

23 You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men.

24 Brothers, each man, as responsible to God, should remain in the situation God called him to.

We all have been given the free will to follow and understand what is available to us through thought and hard work. To me this passage states that when we are called upon by the Lord we should listen closely, and meditate and listen closely for instruction to our spirit.

We all have been in some form of slavery, meaning in the sense of addiction to a chemical substance, or a thought process of hate or anger, or a belief and perception that is truly not constructive but destructive.

The key is to 'Focus' on the today of what we can do to get closer to our true nature and our true God-given freedom to become closer to our true purpose that we all have hidden some deeper that others.

Break free of those chains.

Focus on the questions that will get you closer to what you can do to make a difference.

Maybe its just a kind word to someone.

Maybe its just reconciliation to another close to you.

Maybe its just reaching out with love.

Maybe just maybe its just a smile.

Just a theory.....

Till next time....share a smile, make a dream come true and make someone's else a bit happier.
