Monday Morning Wisdom ~ 05/03/10

Happy Monday everyone and welcome to a new week. Every week should bring to your spirit a fresh sense of possibility. A continued feeling of gratitude and promise of good things a new.

I had the chance to watch a great movie with my daughter, Tori yesterday. I highly recommend it to you. The movie was titled Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium.

If you click on the title it will take you to an overview of the movie from Fandango.

The movie had a great story of finding the kid in yourself and one scene from the movie that I enjoyed the most was the following interaction late in the movie:

Mr. Edward Magorium: [to Molly, about dying] When King Lear dies in Act V, do you know what Shakespeare has written? He's written "He dies." That's all, nothing more. No fanfare, no metaphor, no brilliant final words. The culmination of the most influential work of dramatic literature is "He dies."

It takes Shakespeare, a genius, to come up with "He dies." And yet every time I read those two words, I find myself overwhelmed with dysphoria. And I know it's only natural to be sad, but not because of the words "He dies." but because of the life we saw prior to the words.

[pause, walks over to Molly]

Mr. Edward Magorium: I've lived all five of my acts, Mahoney, and I am not asking you to be happy that I must go.

I'm only asking that you turn the page, continue reading... and let the next story begin. And if anyone asks what became of me, you relate my life in all its wonder, and end it with a simple and modest "He died."

Molly Mahoney: [starting to sob] I love you.

Mr. Edward Magorium: I love you, too.

[picks Molly up, sighs heavily]

Mr. Edward Magorium: Your life is an occasion. Rise to it.

Your life is an occasion. Rise to it!

True words we all can live by.

Your life is an occasion. Rise to it!

So often we tread into our new week with mundane, and often a lackadaisical effort.

We need to understand that we have the power to do anything.

Yes we may fail, yes we may stumble but to fail is better than to never tried at all.

A quote from David Viscott:

“The worst thing one can do is not to try,

to be aware of what one wants and not give in to it,

to spend years in silent hurt wondering if something

could have materialized - and never knowing”

So what about you?

What about what you really want out of life.

What about that smile you can share today.

What if you decided to make the difference in someone's life.

Your life is an occasion. Rise to it!

Till next time......Smile and rise above the mundane.
